A lot of good movies came out in 2017. This one was my favorite.
I was steeling myself to watch this for the longest time. If you’re similarly cautious, understand that a large part of this is just Bo performing catchy singsong musical numbers. It’s heavy, worrying, maybe fatalist, but it’s also fun, flashy, and inspiring. You’ll probably enjoy it, so don’t delay watching it.
Blu-ray (Criterion, 287 minutes) / “my 30th birthday”. Confession: I’m obsessed with this movie.
In my last review, I neglected to mention the soundtrack, which was much more successful than the film itself. Let me mention it now: it’s very good. Just watch the first few seconds of the film and you’ll hear and see one of my favorite Taking Heads tracks.
The long cut of the film features every song on the soundtrack, and with longer representations.
