I was really torn on this the first time I saw Halloween (2018), and it took me a few months to realize that I really don’t like it. This sort of thing is why I feel I could never be a film critic.
Halloween 2018 (really couldn’t come up with better name, huh?) is definitely not the worst of the series. It’s well intended, certainly compared to later sequels. It’s just that so many of my issues here weigh down…

This felt more like a feature length episode of Goosebumps with only occasionally R rated violence and language.
It’s just not shlocky enough. This needs to be more something. More violent. More stupid. More creative. More scary. More bonkers. I DON’T KNOW! MORE SOMETHING!…

You know, just because the characters on screen are falling asleep doesn’t mean the audience needs to be, too. An almost quintessential example of why people shudder at the thought of remakes. All of the best parts are lifted from the original but done shittier. It looks like a CW production run through a “gritty” filter. Freddy looks like someone barley accomplishing sight through an overcooked meat loaf. He’s about as ugly looking…
