The Little Things

The Little Things

Honestly, watching this film is one of the times I have missed seeing movies in a theater the most over the last year. This is the exact kind of thing I love maybe even a little bit more than the actually good or great films. This is the thing I spend an early afternoon on, or go see at 10 PM on a Friday when everyone else is busy and I don't feel like being home. There really is something, to me, very beautiful about movies like that. Sometimes movies like that can turn out to be truly brilliant and classic (Warrior or Blackhat, for example), but it's something I deeply miss right now in the days of watching everything on a tiny screen, trying desperately to keep up with the great films of the year without going numb to them.

It helps that the acting in this is extremely good (even from Jared Leto who I usually hate) and the cinematography is aping Michael Mann in the way it shoots atmosphere and City. It also helped that I did indeed watch this at 10 PM when everyone else was busy and I didn't feel like going to bed.
