This week's featured presentation is Twister! When I saw it as a wee child knowing actors was still beyond me. I had no idea who Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton were, I was just there for the tornaders. I didn't know Phillip Seymour Hoffman's name but you better believe that I was enamored with his performance as Dusty, the frenetic storm chaser who defined The Suck Zone™ and stole every scene he was in. I was just a baby in my cinematic journey, but even then I knew that PSH was somebody special. Isn't it great? You don't need a double masters in film studies and directing to know that in 1996, before Capote, Doubt, and The Master, PSH was a shining star on the rise.
You don't need to be an artist to appreciate great art. All you need is a love for film to leonardo-pointing.meme the next big thing. Who doesn't remember seeing Olivia Coleman for the first time in Hot Fuzz? Or Riz Ahmed in Four Lions? You came for Dirk Diggler's Hog but left with Scotty's unrequited love on your mind and in your heart.
