Holy shit. Holy. Fucking. Shit.
This was rough buddy, one of the most disturbing films I’ve ever seen.
And to add to that, I see that ending as similar to Taxi Driver’s: the manager really succeeded in becoming Meme, and the real Meme is in the mental facility.
Or maybe the last scene is all a Meme’s invention, and she was the assassin, the crazy one and the manager was just trying to save her.
Or maybe it is all straight forward, and the manager was crazy and Meme got an happy ending (even though this is the one I like the less).
Anyways, I don’t care about the meaning of it all, or at least not now: I’m just concerned about how amazing this journey through Meme’s mind has been, and how amazing of a director Satoshi Kon is... I mean this movie was directed, edited, acted and animated in a masterful and wonderfully disturbing way, and the music were just perfect.
Perfect Blue will stay in my mind for a long, long time...
