    A+ themes and performances.
    D- plot mechanics.

This movie is like a writer had some great things to say about life and loss, and then asked a 14yo english student to give them a plot around those ideas.

That probably makes it sound like I hated the movie, but that isn't the case at all. It certainly distracted me at many points, but when I wasn't distracted I was really moved and invested in the search for this truffle pig!…

    The FBI deserved better...

    Wait, no they didn't! lol

Only my second watch and first over the Christmas season. This is definitely a Christmas movie.

Stunning visuals, incredible sound, and a transportive experience. But the story itself (I had no history with the text) was fairly familiar.

Hints of Avatar meets The New World meets Lawrence of Arabia. I get nervous about the white savior elements, but perhaps Pt2 (if it happens) will interrogate these ideas a bit.

Mamoa did feel like he was slightly in a different film, as he was the only levity to a rather humorless 2.5 hours.

A few too many "staring into the distance" shots of Timmy for me, but overall an enjoyable film to watch on the big screen.

Astounding use of sets/direction/actors to tell the story of memory loss through the eyes of the patient. Every second you feel confusion mixed with paranoia mixed with madness!

I found myself trying to guess what was real and what was not and being wrong at every turn, so absolute mission accomplished at telling this story!

Hopkins and Coleman are tremendous, with the former turning in one of his best in a storied career!

Oddly, I did not connect emotionally with the final act, even if I found it to be pitch perfect. Maybe I was too tired? Look forward to a rewatch!
