This movie is an incel's fantasy. The female lead is a completely one-dimensional character -- virginal small-town girl whose inner self, personal interests and life goals are whittled down to an obsession over a single movie star -- and, well, so is basically everyone else. You can't really root for any relationships here to work out because nobody is developed enough to care about.
Topher Grace singing along to Barry White was pretty cute though, and Kathryn Hahn is the one bright shining diamond in this pile of rocks.
