    The Long Goodbye

    God level Gould.

Contains what might possibly be THE funniest, seamless, throwaway physical gag I’ve ever seen: Altman has the camera pointed thru the sliding glass window of The Wade’s Malibu mansion as Eileen and Roger talk, but in the reflection we can see Marlowe off in the distance as he stands on the beach looking out at the sea. He’s standing completely still, as he’s not the focus of the shot and our attention is meant to be on…

    The Postman

    ½

Took me three days to get thru this.

Almost gave it 5 stars because this is clearly the kind of off the rails, messianic complex, ego project where I can imagine Costner having an episode like this after going 20 weeks and 20 million dollars over budget.

    Ricky Gervais: Humanity
