Anthony hopkins might be crazy. But he's got nothing on me

  • War Dogs

    War Dogs

Felt like a lot of the creative decisions were made by a talented high school student, but I could watch fat Jonah Hill yell about black market ammo for two hours on its own. It was nice of Todd Phillips to include the narration track just in case you wanted close your eyes and experience it as an audiobook

  • And Then There Were None

    And Then There Were None

Most good things about the book were either changed or squandered by some baffling creative choices and performances. And the Judge character cannot be played by someone who looks and talks like an older version of Willie the Man Elf from Fred Claus. It just doesn't work

this shit is so funny man you're gonna have a great time watching this

  • Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion

Sometimes there are things where you watch them and then sit sorta in silence for a while and you're not really sure exactly how you feel about it but you think about it for like 3 months straight and listen to Komm Susser Todd during working from home and it becomes "Important To You" and then you go and rewatch and everything sort of falls into place. So yeah. I have to review more shitty movies on here everybody is going to think i like every single movie and thats not true i've just only been carefully vetting the ones i watch recently I promise

Such a beautiful thing, visually and sonically... Never have i felt more of a dread about the current visual state of movies than right after watching this...Which is totally an old guy thing to say, and probably shortsighted, but fuck man, when have you ever seen sets and shots this otherworldly beautiful. I felt it and so i'm going to write it down on letterboxed for my 9 followers to see

    Shaolin Soccer

one of the funniest things  i've ever seen, doesn't really matter that the non-physical comedy could be a little more consistent (probably also because i've heard so much gets lost in translation) or the first 30 mins is a little slow or some plot elements don't make any sense at all. when it gets going it gets fucking going. chow understands at a deep level how to structure a joke and what will be insanely funny to watch onscreen

  • There Will Be Blood

    There Will Be Blood

Maybe the best movie score/soundtrack of all time. It gets me so excited just thinking about it. Greenwood scores this almost like a horror film. Try to find something as cool as his stumbling tumbling piano line in "Prospector's arrive" in any other big-budget movie. Or the very modernist atonality-begets-tonality "Henry Plainview" or the Steve Reich-invoking percussion-phase-playground "Convergence", which although was created for Bodysong gets a new life here with some added strings. And the songs they borrowed are perfect.…

Not as good as It's a Wonderful Life. The entirety of a few character arcs take place in like a single scene

    It's a Wonderful Life

there's a scene in this where George Bailey hits a police officer and the officer shoots at him and tries to kill him. Had to hold back tears a couple times but that's just sort of a regular thing i do these days
