2001: A Space Odyssey

2001: A Space Odyssey ★★★★★

The second the musical overture begins, you are whisked away to the very edges of space and it is still a hell of a ride upon a repeat viewing
To me this runtime is really one that flies by, but I can understand why it’s not for everybody
It is evident that this is a product of Kubrick’s vision to the absolute tee
There is not a frame nor sound in this film that seems out of place or doesn’t add to the overall experience the viewer is transported to
I’m trying to not repeat what I said in my initial review, so hopefully i’m doing a good job
I truly adore this film and everything that Kubrick did 50 years ago
There is a reason he is viewed as a visionary, and maybe the most important and impactful director of all time, and this film is a living testament to that claim
As much as I love the cinematography and symbolism in this film, I think the sound design is my favorite aspect
From the silence of space to the simple breathing and incredible, iconic score, I find myself entranced by it all
I had to see this in its unrestored version one more time before the roadshow ended, and I don’t regret it for a second
