This was a dream come true—I haven’t touched the source material but my soul is comprised of gaming and graphic novels, film and pop culture. And when Ready Player One wasn’t stuffing my face with references, it was such a wild, wonderful adventure.
Spielberg is a god at blocking action sequences; I could see the older couple beside me gawking during one of the film’s long sequences, taking a trip down memory lane, whispering: Is this really happening right now?
I was in the same boat as them—during the whole film, really—and I’m already excited to revisit. I truly felt like a kid again, and can’t wrap my head around how Spielberg brought a film like this to life.
Why did I ever doubt you, Steven!
