Aldio’s review published on Letterboxd:
While some action sequences are cool and entertaining, Army of the Dead provides a shallow zombie flick movie due to how non-sense the plot, the characters, and the scripts are.
-The action sequences and the cinematography was good, especially in the last 30 minutes.
-Actually, it has an interesting plot concept, I was blown away by the trailer.
-The Dieter guy is the only character that can make me laugh a little during the entire duration.
-The dialogues are just so messy and horrible. Most of the characters only saying that makes a further conflict, a sudden love confession, or forced family dialogue. Almost all the lines are too scripted and that makes no chemistry works here.
-Seriously, the whole entire story doesn't make any sense at all. I was pissed off by the reason Kate has to join the army, to save a friend which we don't really know her purpose and it leads to nothing as well. There are so many dumb decisions made by the characters.
-The characters have flat personalities and they act like they're told to, not by what a real human does in that situation. For example, when seeing your friend got an intense fight with the zombie, most of them just watching and do nothing.
-It's failed to be a serious drama and t's not fun either. Only 2 cool action sequences from 2 hours and 27 minutes duration.
-It has a typical villain that is so predictable and cliche.
