California Crisis: Gun Salvo 1986
This is so damn cool. The plot doesn't make a lick of sense and the ending is super abrupt (just what the hell is that ball??). but it doesn't matter too much because this is all about those a e s t h e t i c s. Neon lights, palm trees, sunsets, and vibrant colors all set to some awesome '80s pop music. Even if the animation doesn't look great in motion, individual frames look amazing - almost like…

Beth Gibbons: Henryk Górecki: Symphony No. 3 (Symphony of Sorrowful Songs) 2019
I am using this entry to also log the Tony Palmer 2007 DVD of this work with The London Sinfonia conducted by David Zinman with Dawn Upshaw as the soloist. While the two performances are very different, I would rate them equally.

The Velvet Underground 2021
it’s good, but done in a somewhat disappointingly ‘standard doc’ style, despite the special textures of borrowed clips from the avant-garde.

Double Labyrinthe 1976
lovely imagery & theme of how we look at ourselves
and approach self-representation as a search for
identity, and taking possession of our own image.this film is silent, but i adore how expressive it is.
klonaris and thomadaki express themselves while
both being their own person; they are two bodies
and personalities that share a connection. -

Tarantella 1990
I FINALLY FOUND THIS PIECE OF LOST MEDIA: THE DIRECTORIAL DEBUT OF CHRISTOPHER NOLAN
Here's the catch, though: Syncopy has taken down many uploads and mirrors of Tarantella on behalf of Nolan. That's right, he doesn't really want you to watch this. I think it's a shame, but in regards to intellectual property, he's certainly in the right here. Maybe one day he'll have a change of heart!
(Note that this doesn't mean it's completely lost again. Several mirrors are…
