    The Edge of Seventeen

You know, ever since we were little, I would get this feeling like... like I'm floating outside of my body, looking down at myself. And I hate what I see, how I'm acting, the way I sound. And I don't know how to change it. And I'm so scared that the feeling is never gonna go away.

Yes, I think this is as good as La La Land (not better, just as good). It's a rather simple movie, there's…

And here's to the fools who dream, crazy as they may seem. Here's to the hearts that break. Here's to the mess we make.

If there's no such thing as a perfect movie, then La La Land simply doesn't exist. There's so much right with it that I can't put into words how much I love it. But I'm going to try.

Right out of the gate, director Damien Chazelle lets us know what we're watching:…

Hyperbole isn't the worst crime. Men suffer more from imagining too little than too much.

The movie itself is pretty boring and fictitious. But who the fuck cares? The music is so fucking fun and energetic it's impossible not to at least tap your foot. The cinematography and choreography make it all the more entertaining, it's just a fucking fun time and I can't knock it for that.

But I get it. The bigger the story, the bigger the check in your field of work. I shouldn't blame you, it's not your fault. What's your name?

Eat a dick, Brian. Get the fuck out my house. Y'all done here.

It's somewhat formulaic in some areas, but unlike Bohemian Rhapsody, this has a whole lot more to it. I said in my review for Boh Rhap that being formulaic isn't inherently bad,…

I'm here to bust criminals and lick my own butt. And I'm all out of criminals.

Gorgeous animation, and a really emotional core, Mitchells vs The Machines is a very funny journey. The humor, for me at least, lands a vast majority of the time and doesn't feel too forced. Casting was absolutely spectacular, everyone was the best possible choice in their role. I like that the main lesson wasn't really 'phones are bad', and what was was handled…

Ah, the new boy. Ears are too long and I miss the cape. But not too shabby. Not too shabby at all.

Not at all what I was expecting, but nonetheless great. It keeps what made the animated shows and movies special, with great animation and a fairly mature plotline, and takes it to the best extreme. The film is horrifying and dark, and it works extremely well in expanding this unique universe. It's twisted, but it's honestly amazing at it.
