I was tasked with watching a movie where the sequel was better than the original. And this is still the best sequel ever even today!
Why most sequels fail is because they rehash the same story as the first. And if it was a success that means a bigger budget, bigger actors, and bigger disappointment. Strength of story is the key to a successful sequel. Nothing else.
James Cameron’s story is so strong and layered that you’re fully invested into this universe for a second trip.
And Cameron even had a bigger budget for bigger stunts. But those stunts? Some of the most epic in cinematic history. That semi truck scene? T1000’s transformations. Robert Patrick’s stone cold face. Oh and who could forget his ridiculous running.
I think it’s Cameron’s most complete and best film.
Iconic film scenes. Iconic film.
I’m giving it 4.5 because time travel films have too much “what if’s” within the film that it annoys me to no end. The plot is spectacular. But when you finish the film you don’t definitively know what happens next.
