The first film I've seen by Sofia Bohdanowicz, looking forward to more.
Slow-burn slice-of-life doc about a year in the life of a dying shopping mall. This film has a strangely hypnotic appeal (partly thanks to the muzak by Haha Mart and others), some engaging characters and funny observational moments. Unfortunately it lacks insight into the lives of most of the people we see, beyond lots of time spent with the head caretaker Mike, who seems to love his job but retains some bitterness about the loss of his awful roadside zoo…
