The scene where Amy swims in the pool finally feeling like she belongs and is comfortable in her own skin while Perfume Genius’s Slip Away plays, I CRIED AGAIN WHAT A GREAT MOMENT

You didn’t love me as much as I loved you

I just wanna scream from the rooftops about how much I love this editing, and the music, and the cinematography, and the writing, and the cast, and the movie.

It’s not as frantic as Good Time like I thought it was gonna be but god dam I’ve never cared about basketball so much before this. It’s a continuous boiling pot that finally explodes by the end; Adam Sandler, the music, the editing all make this the energetic fever dream that it is. The Safdie’s are amazing.

There’s something about this movie that I just really love I can’t fully explain it considering it’s not groundbreaking, but the performances especially by Michael Shannon and Kirsten Dunst and Adam Driver in his small role are great. The score in particular is really great and probably the main reason I revisit this so often. A nice, enjoyable gem of a movie.

I don’t know why I felt compelled to watch this on Christmas given its dower tone, but usually the more honest and somber films make me feel at ease I suppose. I always loved the cyclical nature of this film, it ends how it starts and I love how accurate it is to not just the struggle of an artist but to any person; some days you’re up you get a nice gig and then other days you’re hitchhiking in…
