A few days ago somebody tweeted that this is QT's Inherent Vice so I went into this with that on my mind. And I certainly see it -- both are wistful movies in the guise of an LA boondoggle -- but I think this one has a more relaxed vibe. There's that quote that I love so much from Inherent Vice: "Does it ever really end? Of course it does. It did." It seems like in this movie, Tarantino's asking us "But what if it didn't have to end?" And that's really stuck with me in the 24+ hours since I've seen it, the fact that a man nearing the end of his career is musing on the idea of aging and what ifs and freezing brief moments in time.
