Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

I'm catching a theme with Tarantino movies. They definitely like to fulfill our fantasies of some slightly alternate history where the antagonists we hate get the absolute shit stomped out of them. Once Upon a Time does not disappoint in this regard.

Tarantino movies just have that comforting movie aesthetic that keeps me interested and enjoying myself the entire run time. Like the fairy tale he wants to tell, it's a telling of the old and new, and of a…

  • Django Unchained

    Django Unchained

    ★★★★½

Tarantino has got such a method down to making good movies. From how each scene is shot is a total joy from start to finish.

I love me a good vengeance story and it delivers in strides. Like Inglorious Basterds, it plays into the power fantasy we all share of getting payback against the absolute worst scum to ever inhabit this earth. It's what we imagine we could've done under those circumstances. I felt goddamn giddy joy when Django blew…

  • Don't Look Up

    Don't Look Up

    ★★★

This movie is almost self aware in a way but slaps you in the face repeatedly to basically say, holy shit just wake up and realize how fucked we are. Great messaging here. It's obvious it's about climate change and that we aren't doing what is necessary (no shit).

You might think it's from a left (socialist) perspective but honestly it's just radical liberalism. Yeah they hate rich corporations or whatever, but where's the organizing to actually accomplish something? I'm…

    ★★★

Nice film about not hiding who you really are and being yourself. Analogies abound for LGBT people but honestly it's for anyone who feels they need to hide who they are. I relate to it as well finally admitting to myself why I want to do things like I do and how I organize politically (read: Marxist). I've always felt a need to just not rock the boat and make it so people just like you even if it's not…

It was cute and a light watch with some animals I like. It’s corny and fun what more do you want people.

  • The Unforgivable

    The Unforgivable

    ★★½

Acting was pretty good in this but goddamn does it suffer from some silly plot elements. The screenwriters really needed to trim this shit down and get rid of the weird extra crap.

For instance the whole brothers subplot to set up the straight laced brother’s descent madness is totally stupid. Also his wife fucks his brother who is not an attractive guy and is dumb. Then he commits a kidnapping and threatens to kill an innocent girl. Ludicrous story…

    House of Gucci

    ★★★

I went in cold to this one and was surprised that I enjoyed it. I had no idea about the Gucci family history and it was what you might expect from a rich family divorced from reality.

All the acting in this was really good and I especially liked Lady Gaga and Adam Driver’s dynamic. I must say that Jared Leto was playing up his role to hilarious levels. I heard that he was in character even off set. Just…

Bond gets a little scratch down there that only a man with a wrecking ball can itch.

Craigs debut Bond is great and full of all the things people love from previous movies. The action is top notch and destructive. Bond is suave and horny. The ladies are hot and bothered. The British empire is decaying and delusional.

Me not really understanding poker. Wow that’s definitely some cards with matching symbols.

I’m glad they made a point to just go to Venice for no reason. Just awesome. This gets a high love for me cause Eva Green

Needs a little more Kwame Ture spittin fire on America. Hell yeah.

Pretty funny movie and an interesting look at racism in America. Gotta say, good on Spike Lee for not having the black radical woman end up with the black cop at the end and she sticks to her principles. The black cop thinks he can change the system from the inside, naively. Sorry bud, hasn’t happened and will never happen. Even having good intentions won’t stop the machine, especially spying on your own people to help the state. That gets you traitor status.

  • Squid Game

    Squid Game

    ★★★★½

This show really fucked me up. Especially episode 6. It took me a few weeks to watch all of it. I read that some people were even hosting their own squid games where people dressed up like the characters. That’s fucking depressing. Did these losers miss the whole point of this show? Imitating the games like some parody? It’s showing what a bunch of decrepit rich freaks will do to peons like us. This is a tale to get us…

    On the Basis of Sex

Bourgeois liberals do be that way. The moral of this movie is that to get rights for women you need to debase yourself in front of a bunch of old guys and appeal to some bullshit legal argument.
