Ash Ward’s review published on Letterboxd:
It hurt me to my very core at how disappointing this film was. Bruce is my idol and a story about a Pakistani kid growing up in an NF town in the 80s was a perfect spine in which to hang his songs on.
Instead you get a film that doesnt commit to being either a jukebox musical or a kitchen sink drama, resulting in it failing at both elements and ending up as completely naff.
One star for the music, one star for the superb use of the Jungleland outro during the march scene which hinted at what this film could and should have been.
I'm gutted to be honest.
