Andrew Vessel’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’ve got a hunch that says I’ll likely find Snyder at his best whenever he’s directing genre films. This was probably the most fun, gleefully original and genuine zombie movie I’ve seen in the past few years or so. There’s plenty of undead carnage with a generous helping of gnarly gore. The characters, while many are thin, mostly all get their moments to have fun with the material. Aside from some spots of weird writing and a slight shortening of the runtime that wouldn’t have hurt, you’ve also got a diverse cast of actors giving some fun performances that really only add to the experience. Though, what kind of ties it all together is the impressively-executed hybrid plot that makes the whole thing surprisingly capable of working as both a heist film and a kickass zombie flick. It’s going to be on Netflix, but I can assure you that this is a better time on the big screen. It almost kind of asks for it.
