    A little too much time spent on just summarizing his works for a documentary that’s mostly just gonna be watched by people already familiar with them. But I’ve only seen Perfect Blue sooo… 

    The animation is so wild! I need to get to the rest of them.

    Julian Richings a highlight in the longest 80 minutes of my life. The most weird disjointed thing I’ve watched that was somehow wildly boring in how nonsensical it was? If the point was that nothing means anything then I don’t care.

    God I could just cry. Just immediately familiar and makes me feel sad in retrospect for all I couldn’t do for myself. What isn’t this movie about? Depersonalization during teen years, alienation from labor, the tenuous connections of living Online, gender, how astute teens can be and how fucking empty it feels when you can see the bizarre and the absolute abyss when what you know cannot be validated. Hello, I grew up queer in the conservative sprawl too! 

    Elicits the tightness in my heart that only a film can. Just an instant classic for me. Fuck.

    Sorry but Carey Mulligan’s performance and Stars are Blind can’t save this movie from what an evil message it serves. I’m sad for the parts of the movie I liked because they were pretty cruelly crushed into dust. Maybe spoilers below I guess.
