watching movies after you’re like 21 is just realizing that everyone you liked when you were 17 was a hack and a loser with a cheap gimmick and oh my god how was i so gullible but wes anderson doesn’t fall under that category here. nothing much to say you get what i mean. this gimmick hasn’t grown old and i don’t think it will it’s like simple, easy therapeutic cinema. lea seydoux.

  • The Green Knight

    The Green Knight

mystically sound and interesting but also all over the place and nowhere at once. pretty boring but man i am a sucker for quests and swords and impossible prophecies, even if they are told in such a disjointed manner. maybe someday i’ll go back to properly articulating how i feel about stuff but for now i’m fine with just saying that i enjoyed the talking fox. yeah.

movie made for people who drink 12 monsters a day (me). awesome.

  • Halloween Kills

    Halloween Kills

ugh. i appreciate the 2018 one for taking carepenters vision and (kinda) applying it years after and (sorta) evolving it but 3 minutes into this one and i can already tell it abuses that in the worst way possible. at least the former gets a pass because it covers its misinterpretations with an awesome jamie lee curtis performance and pretty cool gory kills but here it’s just embarrassingly blatant that green completely misconstrues the vision, what even is this. every…

maybe not quite as glamorous or awe-inspiring as a cold night in 2018 but this still holds up. wish it had more meat on its bones but who cares about any of that when jamie lee curtis is this incredible, i have no hope for kills.

    No Time to Die

perfect sendoff it accurately captures everything it should from scale to action to little emotional beats. i spent years with daniel craig as bond in my head but only recently did i truly fall for him and i’m glad i did before this, the first movie i’ve been excited for in god knows how long. best praise i can give it right now is just how much it reminds of uncharted 4 in all the best ways, cant wait to watch this every single day when i’m fifty.

    Ghost in the Shell

according to this (cursed) app the last time i logged this film was on the 6th of december 2017 and i have absolutely no memory of that. it was probably me watching like 30 minutes of it and falling asleep or something but deciding to log it anyways because i cared (lol) about how many movies i was watching a year. anyways i watched the original ghost in the shell in theaters for the first time ever last week and…

craig is 4/4 with these they’re just so entertaining and interesting, not a single one where i didn’t have a good time. not sure yet but i think this might be my favorite one, all of that life and death and legacy stuff is simply so cool and that opening is to “die” for. we’re all dead, just damned souls walking around in husks of decaying bodies but for you, i’ll have to risk it all.
