This movie gave me so much Phantom Thread vibes and I love it for doing so. It’s crazy how the script for this movie was done in 1998, but they weren’t able to finance it, cause it didn’t have a man leading role. Anyway I thought this movie was excellent, nearly flawless. The more I think about the movie, the more I love it. The 3 main actresses did a amazing job, but my MVP of the film has to be Emma Stone. My god Can this woman not be stopped. She’s so fucking good in this movie, excuse my language, and everytime she was on screen I couldn’t blink. Yorgos Lanthimos is one of the most interesting directors alive right now and he proves it here. His camera work and directing technique are top notch. There’s this shot where Emma Stone gets off the bed and we just focus on her feet, and my god, that was the prettiest take of the year. This might be the best movie of the year, but that’s an understatement. I wouldn’t be mad if this got beat picture. As for the cinematography, simply breathtaking. I think this and Roma are tied in terms of the best cinematography. Go watch this movie, you won’t regret it.
