Shaolin Soccer 2001
holy fuck this movie was so funny. legitimately the most i’ve laughed during a movie in years. the platonic ideal of physical comedy
-
Dune: Part Two 2024
it rules that there’s a whole generation of kids who get to grow up watching this. as incredible as this is for us to watch as adults, imagine seeing this when you were 13 - i would’ve lost my mind
denis villeneuve is the messiah, here to save movies

The Holdovers 2023
watched the first half of this on a flight and for whatever reason it didn’t hold my attention - went back and finished it tonight, and i’m glad i did! not mindblowing in any real way, but it was warm, pretty funny, and i felt fully won over by it by the end. i’d describe it as “a normal movie, except very very very good”
-
Dumb Money 2023
thought i was gonna hate this - but it’s weirdly good! it’s very “we have The Social Network at home”, but it turns out a competently-made version of that can still be pretty fun. managed to depict the internet stuff in a way that barely made me cringe, which is rare. kind of a perfect airplane movie imo
(also: loved the choice to depict how grim it is to actually work at a GameStop - didn’t expect them to touch on that, but having worked there as a teenager, i can vouch that they fuckin nailed it lol)
-
Poor Things 2023
mannnn i wish every time i went to the movies i saw somethin that made me feel the way this did

Shadows: The Making Of Nope 2022
man all the stuff about Jupiter’s Claim and the weird internal economy of it is so genius. really illuminated yet another great detail about one of my fav movies

Forgetting Sarah Marshall 2008
not a particularly funny movie - which is a weird thing to say about a comedy - but man does this movie have a good heart!
