Brendon Baker’s review published on Letterboxd:
One of the most beautifully shot and scored films of all-time.
Kubrick masterpiece doesn't play by anyone else's rules (no dialogue for the first 25:42) - and that's a good thing - when he colors outside the lines the end product is better than almost anything another director could make conventionally.
"Space Odyssey" is a perfectly Stanley movie, no one else could have even thought up, or much less could have executed a film of this scope. Kubrick's creations are odd in a good way, confusing in a good way and altogether fascinating.
As wowed as I am by the film’s technical achievements, it has undeniable pacing issues, which is why I can’t give it a perfect 5 star review.
