We Need to Talk About Kevin

We Need to Talk About Kevin ★★★★½

First and Foremost I have not read the book and I see a trend that people who have tend to really dislike this movie for the simple fact Lynn Ramsey chose to shoot the movie in a quiet visual fragmented sort of way and left out many details that the book contains. But quite frankly it is a book and is going to be more detailed. I thought Ramsey did something marvelous with this film both visually and scripted. The fragmented dreams and flashbacks make it an almost horror movie version of Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. And the content without a doubt in my mind is horror, that is the genre where this belongs. It has been a long time where I have watched a movie in complete discomfort throughout the entire viewing experience. Ramsey's aesthetics are what really bring this to life and prevent it from being bland and like any other school shooting film. Her keen eye and sense for visuals drive this thing along and it is so superbly edited. This is a film that will give any parents nightmares for sure. 9/10
