Genuinely didn’t realise how smart this film is. It’s crazy to say it, but this has such an interesting depiction of the class system and capitalism hahah. Holds up really well and is still so funny. Love a visual reminder that we’re all just cogs in the machine!

    Sorry We Missed You

Absolutely heartbreaking in every possible way imaginable. There’s no other filmmaker quite like Loach whose making films about the devastating lack of empathy and care corporations have for their workers. Since when was it ever acceptable to place a human’s fundamental purpose for living on just ‘earning and making money’?

    The Shining

An absolutely wonderful portrayal of isolation and trauma. Kubrick utilises large expansive spaces and fantastically manages to juxtapose these large spaces to build on the three family members and their loneliness which they face at the hands of their individual abuse; making for a superb final act that pulls expansive space to a claustrophobic and minimal amount. Whilst this had a very troubling production, it’s undeniable that this is one of Kubrick’s finest examples of filmmaking, both technically and thematically. This is also an absolute dream in 4K.

Far and away Fincher's most interesting and, in my opinion, his best piece of work. Having not seen or read any of the existing source material on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Fincher evidently displays his enthusiasm for the previous source material. I was ever so skeptical going into this film knowing how dark and intense the content is, and it does live up to being perhaps Fincher's darkest and most disturbing film. It's what Fincher does with the…

“I wonder who the real cannibals are”

After having had to pause the film at three different moments in order to recollect myself after seeing some brutal imagery and violence, I have since been opened to a completely new level of cinema. One that takes the “video nasty” category of film to a whole new level. Having been warned of its violent and disturbing content beforehand I was ever so skeptical of this film turning out to be just a…

This has no right to be as good as it is. Peak Nicolas Cage and great action. This is honestly a huge bag of fun. And what a fucking cool as fuck concept.
