Really really good. A film that feels very timely and is very well made, with a phenomenal cast.
The writing is excellent, as expected with Aaron Sorkin. And although I really enjoyed the film, I still do feel he’s a better writer than director. Don’t get me wrong, this was so much better than Molly’s Game, but he really is king when it comes to writing. Unfortunately sometimes I found it hard to follow everything in terms of timeline -…
Really enjoyed this. A lot of movies that are based on plays are very much hit or miss because the structure/story is designed for stage and not film, but this one worked for me. You could definitely tell it was based on a play with the majority set in the one location and the amount of dialogue, but it was always engaging and I was never bored.
The film was really interesting and powerful in terms of themes and characters.…
Knives Out definitely lives up to the hype! Not only is it super fun, entertaining, and has an out of this world cast, but it’s a fresh take on the murder mystery genre too.
Rian Johnson has done something pretty special here. He’s taken the murder mystery genre, which has been done to death and can sometimes get a little predictable, and infused it with new DNA. I haven’t seen a film of the genre like this one. Johnson cleverly…
Flawed but a super fun watch. Loved the quirkiness of the film and Millie Bobby Brown, who stole the show. She carried the film superbly and she’s just going to get better as she gets older. Henry Cavill was great as Sherlock, and left an impression even with limited screen time. There were some great scenes and set pieces, but unfortunately I found the plot/mystery lacked a little and was slightly convoluted. I also found the runtime a bit too long and I think they could have cut it down a little. Despite this, it’s a very charming film with a wonderful tone.
