Ben Hibburd’s review published on Letterboxd:
Ahhhh, so that's why this season only has half the number of episodes that the first season had. They completely blew their budget on this short. This is one of the most photo-realistic animations I have ever seen. And whilst there's uncanny valley at points (mainly due to the lips) this is still an incredible visual achievement.
As for the story it's a blend of several different stories. There's elements of "Terminator," "Dune," "Mad Max," "Borderlands" etc. It really doesn't matter, this short captured my imagination from the first second. The rich world building, the fusion between futuristic tech that looks grimy and old gave this a cool "Star wars" feel. The planet looked like a cross between "Tatooine," "Arrakis" and the prison planet from the "Chronicles of Riddick." And I really can't ask for much more than that...
This was just fifteen minutes of pure unadulterated, fun, Sci-Fi pulp. I WANT MORRRRRRRREEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
