Wow. Gripping and so damn relevant. This film covers a lot of ground in less than two hours, a drama that uses Spoken Word and two fantastic performances to tackle discrimination and violence at the hands of American law enforcement, the prison system, racial tensions, gentrification and America in general at this point in time.
While it is angry, so very angry and very effective in it's anger, it's also full of heart, humour and acts as an ode to Oakland as well as a truly unique take on friendship.
The party scene was the most tense I've felt watching a film in quite some time. Really did not want Miles to fuck him over.
Completely irrelevant but 'Culture vultures' is a fantastic term that I intend to use from now on to describe hipsters.
