I was surprised to find that I actually liked this intermediate Before entry more than the first. In Sunrise, Jesse and Celine were just caricatures of youth (albeit convincing ones). Here they become real people.
It's all much more muted and down to earth. Gone is the long night of energetic romance and hopeful youth. Now we just have two adults in their 30's, talking about what is and what could have been over an extended stroll through Paris.
The ending is truly magical. I love how the two of them just jabber on about pointless niceties, delaying their second inevitable parting only for Jesse to leave us with the best "I know" since Han Solo.
