Good, cheap fun summer flick kind of film. The pacing of the first 30 minutes was unnecessarily slow however.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Absolutely fantastic film. Likely the best rom-com I've ever watched.

The struggles that Kumail faced hit home on so many levels. This film accurately depicted a huge struggle that many second-generation immigrants face; the lack of having a strong cultural identity. It's unfortunate, but the film had a few scenes that really do a great job showcasing realistic scenarios. An example of this comes halfway through the movie during a conversation in which Kumail vents to his parents in what…

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

    ★★½

Really poor pacing, which came as the idiotic decision to split Mockingjay into two movies. Lots of long drawn out action shots, many of which entirely unnecessary. What a waste

SOOOOOOOO unnecessary. What even happened during this film?????? Why does every series try to copy Harry Potter and split the last book into two movies. Oh wait.. money.

Even for a teenage dystopian film, the first film of the Hunger Games series was solid. This was my first time watching this film, and even though I am now out of my teenage years, it was a great surprise to me. Great production design, really great acting from JLaw, and a good buildup of events. The one knack that I do have about the film was that there was fairly poor fight choreography and action scenes in general. Lots of really shaky action camcorder scenes, which was surprising given the high production quality from every other aspect of the film.

I kept thinking about why they decided to cast Michael Cera because he seemed so out of place, but then I learned that his role was based off of Tobey Maguire then it suddenly made more sense

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

    ★★★½

Definitely unnecessary, but not bad. I'm a big proponent of leaving good material untouched (looking at you Stranger Things. Please don't milk the show too badly). With that being said, El Camino delivers a sense of closure to viewers who wanted more from the characters of Breaking Bad.It didn't feel like a full-on movie, but almost more of an extended episode.. perhaps an epilogue?

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

    ★★★

Quentin Tarantino is so strange. This movie was crafted masterfully - great editing, cinematography, acting, etc. Leo's acting in his artificial roles was especially good. What I don't understand about this movie though is why the first half feels so... disconnected? I understand that the central conflict is framed under the premise of a struggling Hollywood actor, but it just felt like there were too many individual (detached) narratives. There was way too much going on in this movie. It's a great film to watch if you're trying to learn more about film-making though.

The perfect conclusion to a franchise so deeply loved across the world. Maybe I'm just ignoring any "flaws" because this was such a damn enjoyable and satisfying watch and I cheered like a little kid 20 times throughout this movie

Nothing reeeeally happened, but I guess that was what childhood technically was like for the majority of us (no central plot, but still finding a way to make a story out of it).
