    Master

    ★★★★

A well crafted film with good performances.

My initial gut reaction was that there were too many moving parts and too few resolutions but, after some short reflection,I came to decide that nothing the film is addressing is that contained or easily resolved.

The conclusion of the film may seem a bit unsatisfying, but this isn't necessarily where these characters lives end up. It's up to the viewer to decide what steps they might take.

  • Call Jane

    Call Jane

    ★★★

While I really like this story getting out there, the pacing and performances in the film were both uneven. It's not unenjoyable, but it certainly left me thinking the documentary will likely be better.

This really had me going down the rabbit hole of thinking about grieving as I watched.

  • Emergency

    ★★★★

    Stressful as all hell.

A good mix of suspense and drama with a touch of comedy to smooth it over.

Beautiful footage and a sweet story that was creatively shown. Really nice way to start the fest.

They became interested in volcanology because they were disappointed with humanity.

That's all I needed to hear to be sold on this.

Just picked this out at random to test out our tech for Sundance and REALLY dug this. I also had just recently gotten interested in Tanya Tagaq. So there's a bonus too.

  • Number Seventeen

    Number Seventeen

    ★★½

It feels a bit slapped together in parts, but this was the early days I suppose.
    Pretty fun, nonetheless.

  • The Heiress

    The Heiress

    ★★★½

Spoiler warning for a 70+ year old movie:

I spent a lot of this thinking it might go darker than it did but, in a sense, it's darker than I could have imagined by portraying a pretty realistic bummer of a story.

  • The Suicide Squad

    The Suicide Squad

    ★★★

Pretty fun overall. Like many films of this style, the battle scenes get too big, sloppy and involved for me and I end up glazing over. Most of the characters/relationships worked for me.

    Fun for the whole family.

  • Antrum

    ★★½

Some day when I'm not subject to drug tests I'll give this a rewatch.

Until then, it's got. 2.5⭐️ Overall with undies/antlers guy getting 10/10

I've actually never seen the original of this one. So, perhaps I like this one more than I should? Haha
