A list of films that deserve a physical release, whether they have been under Criterion's consideration (ie - availability on the channel) or not.
This list also follows Criterion's intentions of bringing attention to films that are considerably important to the history of cinema, be it obscure foreign films or misunderstood gems.
A quick reminder that the Criterion Collection is not a monolithic holy grail that is supposed to represent all of art house cinema. It is not the be all end all of art house representation.
The Criterion Collection is and has always been about physical preservation. Requesting them to have something like "Drive" and "Moonlight" in the collection misses the point of the kinds of films they choose to represent, since preserving popular contemporary releases in the digital age actually defeats the purpose of their work.
