I walked in the theatre with excitement as I was able to watch Ready Player One in IMAX 3D. Watching this via IMAX definitely helped me to enjoy this movie a little better. The action scenes were incredible in 3D and the CGI was amazing. I love Tye Sheridan with all my heart but this film is not my taste. I’m not a fan of video games or virtual reality games so I only watched this for Tye. Despite that, I somehow still thought I would like this film. I didn’t see any trailer for this and I never read the book so I honestly didn’t know anything about this movie, including the animation. Even though the main plot of this movie is virtual reality, I prefer the real life scenes over the animated ones and I wish there was more of it. Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke were very cute together though this obviously wasn’t their best performance as they were both more of an avatar than a human. Moreover, this film was a little too long in my opinion, it should’ve been only 100 minutes. I do think Steven Spielberg is a great director but this film was just cool, not great.
