    Zappa

    ★★★★★

This is a captivating documentary about Frank Zappa, an interesting person who happened to become a musician and composer, filled with rare footage and soul-bearing interviews with the people who entered his orbit. The doc itself is pretty much perfectly constructed, tracking the absurdity of Zappa's youth and showing how it informed who he would ultimately become.

    ★★★½

Finally, a movie that verifies New Jersey is to Florida what Florida is to California.

  • The Immigrant

    The Immigrant

    ★★★

A charming series of scenes illustrating an immigrant's journey and settlement in the United States. Clever situational gags are presented through-out, which have obviously become influential on the American comedy over the following century.

Keep an eye out for the restaurant scene where they lean the bread loaf on the floor next to the wall like it's a discarded broom.

  • The Limey

    The Limey

    ★★★

In presentation, The Limey takes a lot of risks in the form of its casting, experimental editing, and even re-contextualizing footage from other movies. Somewhat surprisingly, they all pay off.
