Brian Salisbury’s review published on Letterboxd:
I know that this movie is the standard bearer for bad sequels, particularly in the comedy genre, so my expectations should have been tempered. However, what I was most disturbed by is the multiple counts of total abandonment of its own conceit: the treasure hunt.
First the treasure is found, but is fake. Then, just before credits, a shoehorned final turn suggests the treasure still exists but the reinvigorated quest is rudely interrupted by the end credits.
If nothing else, this movie has inspired my newest podcast project: Lovitz or Leave It. We will weekly discuss a Jon Lovitz movie and fight tooth-and-nail...to make it to the end of the episode.
