“Not everything is fleeting. Some feelings are deep.”
Yeah, so, sort of like how I felt during every single fucking moment of this film. What a mesmerising work of art. Here I was thinking surely no film would be able to knock Parasite off its pedestal as best of the year, and Portrait has me conflicted as hell - at this point in time, they’re both on equal footing, and if any of you know how much I love Parasite, that might help you to understand just how phenomenal this film is. I’m not so naive as to believe this will actually happen, but Adèle Haenel has a right to Best Supporting Actor because she was literally incredible, and, may I add, absolutely gorgeous. Any other film that is nominated for or wins Best Cinematography is not even in the ballpark of the artwork on show here. I implore you all to watch this film as soon as you possibly can. Good lord.
