You don't want to wake up, do you?

    SCIENCE FICTION MONTH FILM #26

Jonathan Glazer's Under the Skin is a film that is, from the very beginning, extremely weird and perplexing. It relies heavily on visuals to tell its story, but still manages to convey its themes and narrative perfectly, with a little help from Scarlett Johansson (though her English accent is very off putting) and the amazing score. The film is an intriguing look at human nature…

Today we are cancelling the apocalypse!

    SCIENCE FICTION MONTH FILM #25

Guillermo Del Toro's ode to kaiju movies is a bombastic, over-the-top sci-fi action epic that doesn't really have any real depth. In fact, a lot of the script is quite absurd, with wacky characters (one of which is actually called 'Stacker Pentecost?') and pointless concepts such as 'drifting.' However, if you go into this expecting a mecha vs kaiju film with some fun action, you won't be disappointed, but you probably won't remember it the day after, either.

Just like the film that earned him his oscar, Parasite, Snowpiercer deals with themes of class separation very explicitly and well, while providing plenty of thrills to keep the film going. Chris Evans pretty much plays poverty-stricken Captain America (not necessarily a bad thing) and the rest…

    Mini Review

    The whole world is watching.

After finishing Aaron Sorkin's new Netflix film, I was completely torn on what I thought of it, especially due to the fact that The Trial of the Chicago 7 is destined to be an oscar nominee, and likely a winner. Many have criticised Sorkin's directing ability, which I was disappointed to have to agree with - the word uninspired comes to mind, Chicago 7 is just bland and unexceptional behind the camera. Although…
