It’s been less than an hour, since my television joined others from around the world. And I rewatched one of the cheesiest special effects battles in the history of mankind.
"Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty cinematic nitpicks anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and we will once again be watching stuff get blowed up real good. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from Roland Emmerich.
We are fighting for our right to watch cheese.
And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice:
”We will watch Will Smith punch an alien in the face!"
"We will not let Harry Connick’s film career vanish without a fight!"
"We're going to live on with Jeff Goldblum’s eccentric vocal mannerisms! "
"Today we celebrate Independence Day!"
