Dune was such a great experience, and the perfect film to get people back into the theaters!! I've been waiting almost two years to be able to see a Denis Villeneuve movie on the big screen, and it certainly did not disappoint. The scale is huge, and it's exciting to see a big budget film really use the budget to create something this impressive. The story is a lot more coherent than Lynch's Dune, yet it remains complex and respects the audience enough by understanding they can handle dense stories. The stakes felt genuinely real, and the immersive atmosphere created from the stunning cinematography and intense sound design made it exhilarating. I'm not usually a big science fiction person, I make exceptions for Denis, so Dune was definitely a lot more high-concept of a film than I typically care for, but I still loved it. I don't think it's his best, but I think he definitely created the movie he set out to make, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I cannot wait for part two!!
