The story is so powerful and the script is so brilliant. It's not only a movie about the attrocities of communism, it's also a movie about happiness, and how being a free individual with a meaning in life is a key piece to achieve it.

An absolute beauty of a film. The way in which it slowly goes from a crime movie into a heart braking drama is masterful.

The casting is perfect. Each actor is perfect for the role and every character is unique.

The cinematography, as always with Deakins, is brilliant, not only for the beautiful natural landscapes, but also for the moody athmospheres it creates in each scene.

And the music, god. The ending theme is one of the most beautiful melodies I've ever listened to in my life. Mixed with the image, it makes one of the best endings of all time.

One of the most despairing films I've ever seen. The pace is just perfect. The building of tension and despair is nerve wrecking. Redford is absolutely brilliant.

A monumental work that lets us see clearer than ever before a glimpse of what that brutal war was.
