Sound of Metal is really good. Like really good. Though that is kinda expected coming for a Best Picture nominee. I’m currently trying to watch all the Best Picture picks with my mother and this was the first on the list.
Riz Ahmed gives a career best and definitely deserves the Best Actor award. His performance is chilling and sometimes I forgot I was even watching an actor. The sound design is phenomenal and messes with our perception of silence and distortion multiple times. Script wise it is simple, but it does it’s job. There’s a sort of mellow yet saddening vibe carried throughout the film that I absolutely love.
Basically, this is my favorite of the nominees so far.
PS: THIS IS MY 500TH MOVIE!
