regrets from the past. perspective on ended relationships. the melancholic reflection of the now and then. the poetry of the static frame. as it is time what passes through and makes us transitory. as it is the city who sees us come and go while staying in place. the art of silent conversation. one sided relationships where one of the parts isn't present, either physically or metaphorically. nostalgic and regretful feelings of the could-have-been. missed opportunities that still haven't been…
(rewatched it in a theatre as a double feature with chungking express) second time around absolutely amazing. the wrong thing to do when watching this film is not surrendering to its atmosphere. let it sumerge you to the point of falling off your seat and not caring at all. all these characters being so lonely. just like me and you. all these moments passing by like tears in rain. the city is crying. it's craving for more. it's full with melancholy. it's clearly, and sorry for the joke, in the mood for love.
