If you accept the intense stupidity of the humor this is a fun experience, only enhanced by one of the worst English subs of all time. I just wish it had some more gooey tumors and hopping vampires. Also, I’m pretty sure this movie has a ton of homo-erotic undertones, unless that’s all in my head.

Not vibin' with the story here, it's incredibly dark for a movie with fart humor. The fights are - of course - incredible, and Sammo Hung oozes charm.

Pretty bad horror movie but somehow the kinda stupid and blatant over-the-top meta bullshit worked for me, and I was enjoying myself thoroughly through most of it’s chapters. The movie is at it’s worst when it tries to be sincere, where the dialogue borders on comically bad. Good for us that those scenes are used sparingly. The strength of the movie lies in the completely unrestrained self-awareness. Which, while pretty stupid, was simply endearing.

Could do with a few less dudes talking into microphones, but otherwise this is an excellent moralistic drama. The effects might be viewed as dated, but I found them to be magnificent.

There are some deeper ideas explored here than simple warnings about nuclear energy and weapons. The weapon used against Godzilla is itself a horrible weapon of mass destruction, and this moral dilemma is by far the movies strongest element.
