warning:  this isn’t a review, but more of a quasi-live commentary of the special

it seems like once the discourse on this special has died down, something else brings it back up. i figured fck it, might as well watch it and see what the fck people are talking about.

full disclosure:  chappelle is my favorite stand up comedian, but i haven’t seen any of his full-length netflix specials in their entirety - several years ago, i started watching one…

i’ve never read a romance novel, but i imagine it’s much like this film - love affairs, cheesy dialogue and plot, and yet … QUITE ADDICTIVE!!!!!

another commercial offering from the great lino brocka, he puts the pleasure in guilty pleasure!!!!

in between a “there’s a zombie on your lawn” marathon (seriously, my son is OBSESSED with this song to the point that he wants to watch EVERY SINGLE video on youtube featuring this song ALL DAY LONG - and who can blame him, it’s a catchy song, amirite???) and my basketball fantasy league’s draft (my fantasy team’s name is - what else? - chungking express!!!!), i did my best to try to squeeze in a lino brocka film, ah, but alas…

this is the greatest film ever made during my lifetime

it is also the most beautiful film ever made during my lifetime

finally, tony’s hair is the second coolest hair i’ve seen in a film made during my lifetime (number one goes to joseph gordon levitt in inception)

ps. re: maggie being trapped in tony’s room - if you’ve ever been dragged by your parents as a kid to a (filipino) mahjong party, you know the struggle.  you might as well bring a sleeping bag because you’re not going home until noon the next day at the earliest!
