I’ve seen this a few times before I had letterboxd. This would be my eighth time watching Hereditary. I first saw this amazing movie back with my friends in June 2018. The beginning gave everyone creepy vibes and from that one scene, everyone gasped in theaters. No one made a sound or a word till it was over. Even when it was over, we just sat for a little bit before anyone said anything or moved. Ari Aster is already one…

    Woman in the Dunes

    ★★★★★

Woman in the Dunes executed everything flawlessly. The complex character dynamic, incredible dialogue. The black & white cinematography and score adds on to the uncomfortable claustrophobic atmosphere of this hellish hole. We feel the sand's presence around us. It feels as if you’re in the dunes with them, nonstop agony. The sand is one giant metaphor for our existence. We can’t decide how we want to live our lives.

I literally watched this great documentary after taking the booster shot. Fell asleep, felt the side effects for days and days. Forgetting to review this film, my bad.

The first Criterion Challenge selection of 2022. Delighted with my first pick. An inspirational movie about Muhammad Ali travel to Africa to fight against the younger new heavyweight champion boxer of the world, George Foreman. This felt like one of those things you just had to be there to live it. Watching…

Sucks there was no screening for this film nearby me. Finally out on Apple TV+ and it was crazy to watch for the black and white cinematography alone. Joel Coen got the aesthetic of William Shakespeare’s play of Macbeth nailed down. I wasn’t fully sold on the film. It’s not one of Joel’s strongest movie but it is a solid one. It’s great to see him still making films.

    Eternals

    ★★★

While the Eternals has some impressive VFX and cool battle sequences, the overall story and personalities between the characters felt lackluster. I do like a good amount of the characters but kind of forgot some of them after watching. Eternals is one of the best looking MCU movies, dead serious on that aspect. A little help with the screenplay and this could’ve been better. The pacing suffered during the first two acts. Didn’t need to see the flashbacks as much…

    Dune

Villeneuve is the most consistent director I’ve seen so far. A rare director to make many mesmerizing movies. Dune Part One is easily Villeneuve’s most cinematic film yet. Letting Denis faithfully adapted Dune from the book to the big screen. A mesmerizing viewing experience in the IMAX theater for 2 and a half hours. Never seen a more realistic looking sci-fi film. The action set pieces, production design, makeup and special effects are top notch in their departments. The Green…
