A memorizing 5 hour film. Ingmar Bergman brought a significance piece on the complexity of marriage. A pragmatic illustration of expectations in one’s ideal marriage. Can see A Marriage Story was quite influenced by Bergman’s riveting picture. A cultural impact in Sweden’s marriage counseling rising after premiering on television in front of many wedded couples.

Directed, written and edited by Hu Bo. One of the most bleak and depressing films I ever laid my eyes on. Suffering depressed humans that simply want to escape reality that are stuck in this small world. I was emotionally drained for four hours. Feeling the rawness and emptiness of our characters captured by Fan Chao. An upsetting score by Hua Lun. Can’t believe what I just witnessed. A must watch for all of its 234 minute runtime.

    RIP Hu…

    “Is he dead?”
    “I don’t know, I’m not a doctor.”

Aubrey Plaza did what she could with a bizarre and dragged out story that easily gets lost after 40 minutes.

“If you immerse yourself into a foreign language. You can actually rewire your brain.”
The language you speak is how you think and see everything in a certain perspective.

The film comes in full circle just like the aliens’ language. Watching Arrival again helps view the literal point of the film’s meanings. Amy Adams’ acting is astonishing. Denis Villeneuve’s directing is out of this world. Ted Chiang’s mind for coming up with the original story is pure brilliance.

Written by Hunter Schafer and Sam Levinson.

Self identity, childhood trauma, family issues. This phenomenal special revealed a lot about Jules’ life and yet plenty of things to uncover about her we’ll have to discover later on in the series. A horrific scene of Jules terrified of losing the one important person in her life.
