    Though visually stunning - very ethereal, gorgeous score and soundscapes, and the color choices are breathtaking - but the plot falls frustratingly short. With little to keep one emotionally engaged, married with the moody images and sound, you can’t blame anyone for dozing off...

    Decent concept, but the film lacks depth, suspension, and emotional engagement with its audience. And script sounds as if they used the first draft; the dialogue isn’t dynamic, witty, or compelling. 
    And poor Emma; can’t hide that English accent.

    I have a hard time writing that I “enjoyed” Platoon as I found the feature difficult to watch and heart wrenching, knowing that it is most possibly Hollywood’s best at recreating the very real circumstances of the Vietnam War. I watched the picture with my step-father who reflected on seeing the movie in the theater when it came out, and how dozens of older veteran men and their wives exited the theatre wailing because the film resembled their real trauma…
