John Fiedler (the voice of Piglet) has one scene in this and that was the most exciting this adaptation gets. Comparing this with the original will provide a perfect example to demonstrate how films became less sexy once the Code was over. It’s like someone thought you could just add pina colada sunshine aesthetic to murder story and seduce audiences, but there’s nothing here. Give me TV movie Babs over this any day.

Watched in memory of George Segal. This could be deserving of so much simply because it’s so utterly surprising and resistant to convention, even amongst its non-conforming peers. I feel like I went through the emotional battles of an entire relationship watching this film. Strange, but very rewarding.

How could this be anything but 5 stars. Not a question.

The most deliciously imperfect murder. This film is a remarkably good time. After watching it twice today with different groups of students I have to say that the most successfully orchestrated moment (in a film of many) is when Bruno drops Guy's cigarette lighter into the grate. There's shock, and then there's the exquisite tension that can't be fought off after it. This has to be pure cinema.
